Well it was a good weekend at the Serpentine swim 2017, I took part in the Mens para elite which was the first heat in a total swim of five thousand swimmers, the mens para elite only swim a mile so it was never going to be a long race but it was one in very prestigious surroundings, it had a good start and after the first turn I knew I was a good twenty meters ahead of the next swimmer, as it was only 15 degrees I wasn't going to hang around, I completed the event in 21m 40s taking gold which was an improvement on last year. Unfortunately that is the end of my open water season but having seen how much the distance swimming is helping with my race times i shall be eager to start again as soon as the seaon opens next year.
